Part of the $1.3 billion earmarked for rail and bus investment is being spent in the West. This means improved travel times from the West to the CBD and Eastern Melbourne.

The West is also gaining traction in community centres and activities. The Government is spending $140 million on projects such as the Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre and improved visitor experiences along the Shipwreck Coast. $120 million is being spent around the state to support planning works for local sports ovals and facilities. $231 million is also being spent on future redevelopments of sports stadiums, including Footscray’s Whitten Oval.
